Locanda Lorena

A proper adventure from Versilia and absolutely worth it: Locanda Lorena sits on the island of Palmaria, across the water from Porto Venere in the Gulf of Poets, reached only by boat (the restaurant runs its own shuttle from Porto Venere). Drop onto the island for impeccably fresh Ligurian seafood with the sea on every side — one of the most romantic, off-the-map lunches on the whole coast.

Eco del Mare

It's a journey from Versilia — about 90 minutes north into the Gulf of La Spezia — but Eco del Mare is worth every kilometre. Tucked into a hidden cove at Fiascherino near Lerici, this barefoot-luxury beach club and seafood restaurant sits on one of Liguria's most beautiful stretches of coast, reached down a steep path to a private bay of turquoise water.
